ABOUT US

We're building the R&D Tax Incentive platform we wished existed when we were on the other side of the table.

Rubystone was born from a simple frustration: the R&D Tax Incentive is genuinely valuable for Australian innovators, but the process of claiming it is genuinely painful. We're here to fix that — with software that actually understands R&D, and an AI assistant (Ruby) who makes documentation feel less like homework.

Meet the Team

Dan Navaratnam

Dan Navaratnam

Co-Founder

Dan hates needless admin. Gets bored doing the same thing over and over again. As a first-time startup founder, he realised every innovative firm in the country faced the same low-tech burden — and it felt like something was missing. Rubystone is about helping early-stage businesses deal with admin from day one, recording and preparing for an eventual R&D application rather than scrambling in retrospect. This is Dan and Jon's second startup together, following Womby, where Dan leads market strategy and product design. Same philosophy: make the painful stuff disappear.

Jon Manning

Jon Manning

Co-Founder

Jon's career has spanned many verticals, but one theme is consistent: he builds tools that remove repetition, reduce friction, and help people work smarter. He and Dan met solving data problems together and built a friendship around the same belief — technology should make life easier. Rubystone is their second startup together, following Womby, where Jon leads engineering and platform design. Same philosophy, new problem: making R&D claims less painful.

Our Mission

Every year, Australian companies leave millions in R&D Tax Incentive refunds on the table — not because they're not doing eligible work, but because the documentation process is too hard.

We're building Rubystone to change that. Our goal is simple: make it easy for innovators to claim what they've earned, and make it easy for R&D consultants to support more clients without drowning in admin.
